The Power of Right Now

Have you ever told someone, “I’ll pray for you”… and then forgot?

I have.

Have you ever thought, “I should call that person,” and then moved on?

I have.

Have you ever felt the nudge to share your faith… and backed off?

I definitely have.

And that’s why I want to talk about the power of right now.

Because most spiritual opportunities don’t disappear dramatically.

They fade quietly.

The Compounding Effect of Immediate Obedience

In Ephesians 5, Paul says:

“Be very careful, then, how you live… making the most of every opportunity.”

Why?

Because the days are evil.

Right now someone is struggling with temptation.
Right now someone is drifting spiritually.
Right now someone needs encouragement.
Right now someone needs prayer.

The question isn’t whether opportunities exist.

The question is whether we’ll act.

1. Encourage Right Now

Sometimes we have the thought:

“I should build that person up.”

But we don’t say it.

Pam and I have started doing something simple. We’ll stop and say:

“Can I take a second to build you up?”

And then we do it.

It’s amazing how much power is in that moment.

You don’t need a platform.
You don’t need a sermon.
You need a sentence.

Encourage right now.

2. Connect Right Now

Colossians 4 says:

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders, making the most of every opportunity.”

When I arrived in Boston, I asked for invitation cards immediately.

Why?

Because I want to be ready when God opens the door.

Sometimes connecting is as simple as:

“Just thinking about you.”
“Hope you’re doing well.”
“I’d love for you to join me Sunday.”

Small connections can change lives.

3. Pray Right Now

James 5 says:

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said I’d pray — and didn’t.

So I started doing something different.

When someone shares something heavy, I say:

“Let me pray for you right now.”

Not later.
Not tonight.
Right now.

And something shifts.

Faith moves from theory to action.

Imagine This

What if every day you:

Encouraged right now.
Connected right now.
Prayed right now.

Your faith would compound.

You would grow closer to God.
You would see more miracles.
You would make more impact.

Not because you’re doing something dramatic.

But because you’re doing something immediate.
